Anyone who has tried organizing an event or party in Brasília quickly discovers one painful reality: renting a decent venue by the lake can become absurdly expensive very fast. 

Between venue hire, tables, chairs, staff, catering, and everything else, some places charge prices that make you wonder if they are renting you the venue or selling you the entire building. 

That is why discovering Clube Almirante Alexandrino (CAALEX) was honestly a very pleasant surprise.

The club mainly serves navy personnel and members of the armed forces and police, but it is also available for private events. It sits right on the shores of Lake Paranoá in Asa Norte, although first-timers often struggle to find it because it is tucked away behind other buildings and not visible from the main road.

What makes the place stand out is the amount of space available and how relaxed the atmosphere feels compared to many of the more commercial venues around Brasília. The club has sports fields, barbecue areas, playgrounds, swimming pools, lake access, and several indoor and outdoor event areas.

The Brasília Hash House Harriers used the venue during the Pan South America Hash in 2024, and it worked exceptionally well. With around 140 people attending, there was still more than enough space, and honestly the location could easily handle much larger events without feeling crowded.

One thing several people mentioned afterwards was how friendly and helpful the staff were throughout the event. Organizing larger functions in Brazil can sometimes become stressful very quickly, so having cooperative staff makes a massive difference.

The manager, Fernando, also seems genuinely interested in helping events run smoothly and can point people toward caterers, musicians, and other service providers if needed.

So for anyone looking for a venue in Brasília that is scenic, spacious, and significantly more affordable than many of the better-known lakeside clubs, CAALEX is definitely worth looking into.
