Brasilia may not have beaches, but it boasts a huge variety of sports clubs where people take their families for some R&R. It is common for people to spend their weekends and free time in these clubs. There are programs for all ages. So the Yacht Club or 'Iate Cube de Brasilia' is definitely the most complete sports club in terms of the variety of activities you can enjoy in this quaint club at the edge of the Paranoá Lake. It is expensive, as you can imagine, but to me it is definitely worth the cost if you use it weekly.

It boasts a wonderful combination of sport and cultural activities, where you can play squash in the morning and do a guitar or painting class in the afternoon. There are several bars and two restaurants in the club, one being buffet style and the other one being the famous Ouriço, for a more refined taste. There is a great fully equipped gym with a brand-new bike spinning room, but frankly I have never used it since there is so much else to do in this place.

There are family activities and services for children, like childcare for parents who want to do sports while their children play. Cultural musical programming and wonderful orchestra concerts by the lake twice a year.

Non-sports offerings include free workshops on many topics and classes in many subjects, such as guitar, painting, drawing, singing choir, ballet, dance, and more. I could go on and on as I really enjoy this club on a regular basis. There is so much to do you will never get bored.
