I've never been a fan of all-inclusive resorts until I was gifted with nephews, and maybe most of the people without kids in their life will not understand it either. This is an all-inclusive resort within a short driving distance, about 1h30 drive from Brasilia. It features a water park, panoramic swimming pools, huge buffet-style restaurants, sports bar, pool bar, SPA and perhaps the most important feature to all guardians of little devils: supervised activities for children! Oh, and there's also a huge convention center in the complex, but who cares... The resort was opened in 2020 and is still under construction but they've taken measures to minimize the visual or audible noise. I must mention something that really bothers me in this all-inclusive resort: isn't really all-inclusive. Drinks of any kind are not included. That would be okay if they didn't try to sell me a half liter bottle of water for f*** 5 reais. I've considered drinking tap water but I didn't knew what kind of treatment they use and in the end I found two sources of "free" drinking water: one is during the breakfast and the other is on the baby food prep center, in the 1st floor of the apartment buildings, near the elevators. All things considered it was a nice weekend trip. Waterfalls North of Brasilia Document Document Document Document Around Brasilia Free +55 61 99996-1601 7 Days a Week Swimming, Day Trips, Hiking < Search All Button Recommendation from Sebastian Wolff on the B4D Forum: Many residents of Brasilia head straight out to Alto Paraiso or Pirinopolis if they think of beautiful waterfalls. And don't get me wrong, both places are very worth a visit. But you don't need to get that far for a nice hike and a refreshing bath in a beautiful tropical waterfall. There are options around (and even within the city limits) of Brasilia. A nice area with many waterfalls is right north of the National Park of Brasilia. It is fairly easy to go there - although with some kilometers of dirt roads to pass - and guides and restaurants are in place. For starters I have two recommendations. If you like a guided tour with meals included you should ask at the Chapada Imperial. They offer two or three different trails with more than 10 waterfalls and some nice canyons. It is possible to stay for the night in very simple but also lovely chalets. If you like it unguided and are in the moot for a little adventure you can drive to the Poço Azul (blue pool) stationary. They've got two trails - one super easy - with up to four waterfalls to visit and of course take a bath in. The place can get a little crowdy on Sundays and public holidays. Bisnau Rural Ecotourism Document Document Document Document Around Brasilia $$$ +55 61 99966-9118 7 Days a Week Portuguese Adventure Activities, Historical Rock Carvings, Trekking < Search All Button Recommendation via Submit Recommendation: Bisnau Rural Ecotourism is located about 120 km from the center of Brasilia and is an incredible destination for nature lovers looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. From Brasilia you head towards Formosa and when you pass through the city it is another 42km until you turn right and follow the signs towards Cachoeira do Bisnau. This is important as you must check in at the reception to pay the entry fee and receive all the information you need before you can enter the all the different sites. All up there are 9 attractions in the area. The Bisnau archaeological site is protected area within a private farm and consist of a rock formation of about 3000 square meters that contains rock carvings that are estimated to be between 9500 – 12000 years old. Nobody really knows what they are all about, but one theory is that they petroglyphs contacts with aliens from other planets. Some scholars say that these are the oldest in the world. To get there from the receptionit is a 10km round trip by car on dirt roads and a 150m easy walk. One of the highlights of my trip was the hike to Cachoeira do Bisnau, a stunning waterfall located a short distance from the site. The waterfall is 110 meter high and the hike to get there was challenging but worth it and I was blown away by the beauty of the waterfall. Of course, you can swill on the bottom of the waterfall and take a natural water massage. To get there it is a 1km drive from the reception and a very challenging 400 meters through steep rocky terrain with ropes to help with the hike. The Onça Trail is another incredible adventure through some stunning landscapes of the Cerrado. But be warned, it is a 4km hike through the Bisnau forest and the terrain can be very challenging, and it requires some fitness. At the end of the trail, you will enter Poços Verdes with its incredible green water. If you don’t want to walk back, you can arrange a pickup at the end point with the reception. As I mentioned before, there are 9 attractions to visit, so it is impossible to do it all in one day. If you want to stay longer, the place offers a small hostel and a camping ground near the reception. They also offer a stay at Casa Pouso do Engenho, a very basic facility that can house up to 8 people. It is important to note that you must pay everything by cash, there is no internet in the area, no restaurants or coffeeshops and if you want to stay at Casa Pouso do Engenho you have to supply your own bed and bath linen. So if you are a more adventures type, Bisnau Rural Ecotourism is the place for you to visit and enjoy the beauty of the Cerrado and some historical sites. I would really recommend this tour if you have family or friends visiting. You'll learn so much about the city, and your guests will feel like they actually know the city. I recommend this product. We agreed that on June 3rd, the staff from AAA should arrive at 08:00am in our building in Copacabana. At precisely 08:00 am they were there - and that IS QUITE UNUSUAL in Brazil, I must say! They have multiple Academies all over Brasilia, including Sudoeste, Asa Norte and Guara and they are highly professional and very family oriented! My recommendation is for the Guara location as I train there. I can tell from my own experience that I felt more than secure and welcomed! They have absolutely no problems showing the moves and training with you as much as necessary for you to understand everything. When you drive past it you are forgiven to think it is just an old run-down shack in the middle of nowhere at the side of the dam. But how wrong you are. The restaurant was built in 1956 to feed the workers that build the dam. It is said that at its heydays it fed over 5000 workers daily and that President Juscelino Kubitschek visited the worksite every week to check on the progress of the dam. In and outside of the restaurant you can see many pictures showing the building of the dam and how it was in the old times. And the current owner Fábio Martins Santos, who is the son of the founder, will happily talk to you about the history of the place and dig out more photos for you. The menu of Churrascaria Paranoá lists over 50 different dishes, including lamb, free-range chicken and exotic dishes with frogs and alligator meat. But what they are famous for is their grilled picanha. And what a treat that is; it melts in your mouth. The prices are extremely good and there is plenty of room for children to play on the original playground from over 65 years ago. And if you go on weekends in the evening, you can see one of the great sunsets in Brasilia. All in all one of the best hidden secret restaurants in Brasilia. You will not be disappointed. When I was brand-new to Brasilia I did a group tour of Brasilia. This is a really great tour - you'll learn not only the layout of the city and the history of why it's been done that way, but also get to see all the big monuments and best architecture. I would really recommend this tour if you have family or friends visiting. You'll learn so much about the city, and your guests will feel like they actually know the city. I recommend this product. As it turns out, there is more than one Vasto in Brasilia. But I am here to tell you that there is one that offers a superior experience, the location at SHCS Quadra108 Bloco E on Asa Sul. From the moment you walk in you are in a New York kind of mood. Sinatra songs, often live, set the ambiance; the layout and design itself place you in the Big Apple, in one of those restaurants on an upper floor with a great view, the ones Vegas lounges try so hard to duplicate. Before you even look at the menu, the place has won you over. Service is immediate and impeccable, more so during lunch than at dinner when the service is slower, clumsier, and the food quality can be inconsistent. It is casual-elegant, businesslike or romantic, take your pick. It is the kind of place where you can spend an hour or two listening to music and sipping a drink before you even think of food. People go there to eat, however, and the menu is a delightful offering of escalating choices. There is a light avocado on toast appetizer served beautifully garnished with a green-leaf salad with feta, split grape tomatoes, and pomegranates, altogether they are a feast to the eyes as much as your taste. And you can go to the other side of the spectrum with the sumptuous Mexilhões à Provençal —Mussels à la Provençal— for a spectacularly presented and delectable appetizer that can more than satisfy you in both flavor and quantity. Presentation is, in fact, a Vasto trademark. The Roasted Cauliflower —Couve Flor Assada— is spectacular as it arrives, golden with its cheese covering singed to perfection it comes on a light green coulee that complements the flavor deliciously. It is my favorite. The Ovo Mollet appetizer is a whimsical panko-fried soft-boiled egg centered on a delicious gumbo-like stew of mushrooms and crisp bacon. Its full-flavor will make an impression on your flavor receptors, one you will surely want to try on your next visit. One could spend several hundred dollars on dinner and drinks, but for me, the above appetizers were more than enough keeping my bill under R$200. You can indulge on Vasto’s Prime Rib, its Filet Mignon, Ratatouille, Salmon, or the Costela do Dianteiro ribs from the ubiquitous ads, and you can certainly make of your visit a lovely gourmet experience. I was disappointed, however, by their Tiramisu dessert. It was rubbery and had the taste of an item too long in the refrigerator, certainly not fresh - an unfortunate last impression. On a subsequent visit, I tried their Panqueca de Doce de Leite Argentino with somewhat less disappointing results. Vasto Sul is open daily from noon to midnight. We understand the importance of providing essential items to individuals and families who may be facing economic challenges, and we believe in the power of solidarity and compassion. Once or twice a month, we embark on a meaningful journey to the Favela Sol Nascente, delivering the collected donations to those who can benefit from them the most. This allows us to establish a direct connection with the community, understand their needs better, and provide support in a tangible way. We believe that everyone deserves access to necessities, and we are committed to making a difference in their lives. In addition to our regular efforts, we also organize an annual yard sale. This event serves two purposes: it provides an opportunity for us to raise funds to support our ongoing operations, and it allows the community to purchase donated items at affordable prices. It is located about one hour from the center of Brasilia. Fazenda Novo Horizonte was founded in 1988 as a traditional farm which grew soy and corn as well as raised pigs and cows. But that changed around 2003 when the owners fell in love with everything coffee. The corn and soy field gave way to coffee plants and Café Minelis was born. After years of passionate work their coffee won several prestigious prizes in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. Fazenda Novo Horizonte offers guided tours through the farm, including a presentation about the history of coffee, the long way from planting the bean, harvesting, processing to roasting and the end product. You will also experience the roasting process and that smell is every coffee lover’s dream. Button Brasilia is a city full of apartments, especially in Asa Sul and Asa Norte. To give it inhabitants access to green areas, you will find public parks all over the city, the biggest being the Parque da Cidade Sarah Kubitschek. Parque da Cidade Sarah Kubitschek was officially founded in 1978 and is one of the world’s largest urban parks, and the largest in Latin America. It is a beautiful area of over 420 hectares with lots of room and things to do. The park is officially open from 5:00am to midnight. Close to the TV Tower you can visit the amusement park with heaps of entertainment not only for the kids but also a go-cart course for the more adventurous ones. There is also a large lake with bridges, and you can rent boats to explore the lake. Throughout the park you find separate bicycle and running walking lanes, playgrounds, public BBQ facilities (bring your own charcoal), restaurants, public training equipment as well as plenty of street vendors that sell everything from coconut water, and beer to street food and ice cream. On weekends you will find a lot of special events happening in the park including beer and music festivals, children’s events and even medieval performances. The park is also home to Brasilia’s biggest exhibition hall with over 5100 square meters of space and 4500 car spaces. Unfortunately, the park fell into a bit of disrepair with many of the original features falling apart, like the wave pool that once was a big attraction. One can just hope that will get better. The museum's collection consists of over 40 historical pianos, ranging from small uprights to grand pianos, and includes instruments that belonged to important figures in Brazilian music history. The museum was founded by Rogério Resende who arrived in Brasilia 45 years ago. He fell in love with everything that has to do with pianos. He started playing the piano, then tuning them and later founded a shop and museum to preserve important historical pianos from all over the world. Visitors to the museum can take a guided tour by Rogério Resende , which takes about an hour, and learn about the history of the piano in Brazil, as well as the technical and aesthetic characteristics of the instruments on display. He will also guide you through his workshops and explains how pianos work and the process of building them. On display are several pianos that he has build himself, like one that is pulled by a bicycle. He also restores old pianos to their former glory. It only has one entry, and the cost is $5 reais per person. It is closed on Monday. The park showcases the Cerrado, the vegetation of the surroundings of Brasilia. It has network of mountain bike and running/walking tracks. You can get lost in that park. In the center of the park you find the visitor center, a really cozy restaurant (service is slow, but..), a picnic area and the Japanese Garden. On Sundays, several artisan producers sell their goods there, like breads, honey, herbs, cachaça and wooden toys. Decathlon is the best outdoor and sporting goods retailer in Brasilia with a huge range of sports clothing and running shoes, outdoor clothing and camping equipment, exercise equipment and water sport gear. The pricing is pretty good and sometimes they have fantastic specials. The Decathlon in Asa Sul is in a shopping center on the lower floor and parking can be a pain. Because of the size of the store, they don’t have the range of products as the store in EPIA Sul. The Decathlon in EPIA Sul was opened in 2022 and has plenty of parking. Because of the size of the store the range is huge, they have many special offers, and it is more pleasant to shop there. Besides Bento's pictures, you can choose from several different catalog’s pictures from his work in Brazil and around the world (the catalogues can be requested by anybody and will be send electronically). When I was brand-new to Brasilia I did a group tour of Brasilia. This is a really great tour - you'll learn not only the layout of the city and the history of why it's been done that way, but also get to see all the big monuments and best architecture. I would really recommend this tour if you have family or friends visiting. You'll learn so much about the city, and your guests will feel like they actually know the city. I recommend this product.
