Waterfalls North of Brasilia Document Document Document Document Around Brasilia Free +55 61 99996-1601 7 Days a Week Swimming, Day Trips, Hiking < Search All Button Recommendation from Sebastian Wolff on the B4D Forum: Many residents of Brasilia head straight out to Alto Paraiso or Pirinopolis if they think of beautiful waterfalls. And don't get me wrong, both places are very worth a visit. But you don't need to get that far for a nice hike and a refreshing bath in a beautiful tropical waterfall. There are options around (and even within the city limits) of Brasilia. A nice area with many waterfalls is right north of the National Park of Brasilia. It is fairly easy to go there - although with some kilometers of dirt roads to pass - and guides and restaurants are in place. For starters I have two recommendations. If you like a guided tour with meals included you should ask at the Chapada Imperial. They offer two or three different trails with more than 10 waterfalls and some nice canyons. It is possible to stay for the night in very simple but also lovely chalets. If you like it unguided and are in the moot for a little adventure you can drive to the Poço Azul (blue pool) stationary. They've got two trails - one super easy - with up to four waterfalls to visit and of course take a bath in. The place can get a little crowdy on Sundays and public holidays. Bisnau Rural Ecotourism Document Document Document Document Around Brasilia $$$ +55 61 99966-9118 7 Days a Week Portuguese Adventure Activities, Historical Rock Carvings, Trekking < Search All Button Recommendation via Submit Recommendation: Bisnau Rural Ecotourism is located about 120 km from the center of Brasilia and is an incredible destination for nature lovers looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. From Brasilia you head towards Formosa and when you pass through the city it is another 42km until you turn right and follow the signs towards Cachoeira do Bisnau. This is important as you must check in at the reception to pay the entry fee and receive all the information you need before you can enter the all the different sites. All up there are 9 attractions in the area. The Bisnau archaeological site is protected area within a private farm and consist of a rock formation of about 3000 square meters that contains rock carvings that are estimated to be between 9500 – 12000 years old. Nobody really knows what they are all about, but one theory is that they petroglyphs contacts with aliens from other planets. Some scholars say that these are the oldest in the world. To get there from the receptionit is a 10km round trip by car on dirt roads and a 150m easy walk. One of the highlights of my trip was the hike to Cachoeira do Bisnau, a stunning waterfall located a short distance from the site. The waterfall is 110 meter high and the hike to get there was challenging but worth it and I was blown away by the beauty of the waterfall. Of course, you can swill on the bottom of the waterfall and take a natural water massage. To get there it is a 1km drive from the reception and a very challenging 400 meters through steep rocky terrain with ropes to help with the hike. The Onça Trail is another incredible adventure through some stunning landscapes of the Cerrado. But be warned, it is a 4km hike through the Bisnau forest and the terrain can be very challenging, and it requires some fitness. At the end of the trail, you will enter Poços Verdes with its incredible green water. If you don’t want to walk back, you can arrange a pickup at the end point with the reception. As I mentioned before, there are 9 attractions to visit, so it is impossible to do it all in one day. If you want to stay longer, the place offers a small hostel and a camping ground near the reception. They also offer a stay at Casa Pouso do Engenho, a very basic facility that can house up to 8 people. It is important to note that you must pay everything by cash, there is no internet in the area, no restaurants or coffeeshops and if you want to stay at Casa Pouso do Engenho you have to supply your own bed and bath linen. So if you are a more adventures type, Bisnau Rural Ecotourism is the place for you to visit and enjoy the beauty of the Cerrado and some historical sites. I would really recommend this tour if you have family or friends visiting. You'll learn so much about the city, and your guests will feel like they actually know the city. I recommend this product. Cris, the instructor, is a physical therapist and takes amazing care. The studio is in the Centro Hípico Lago Sul in Jardim Botânico it a beautiful space, far away from traffic and noise. AND the massage therapist Luciana is also excellent. I am not sure of their English abilities but know they have had many foreign clients. The décor makes you believe that you are in England and not Brasilia, especially at the Lago Sul location with the large greenhouse structure. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and they are also famous for their afternoon tea, which is served from 15:00 to 18:30. One of the favorite dishes are the fish and chips and their selection of cakes and pastry is very good. The service can be a bit slow at times and it can be expensive, but the atmosphere makes it worth it. It offers activities for the whole family and ages. There are small electrical cars, which a toddler can easily drive, karts for small children during the mornings at weekends, a playground for kids, a racing simulator for speed enthusiasts and finally the go karts for teenagers and adults. The adult go karts are a bit on the worn side, and you do see big differences between the karts. The track itself is surprisingly good and technical, depending, of course, on the layout for the day. There are demanding corners and several instances where one has to take it easy on one corner so it can attack the next one faster. It fits fairly comfortably a race with 10 karts. Last but not least, the place has a bar where snacks and drinks are served at a reasonable price. All in all, a good program for families and friends in the heart of the city. The person brings the machine to your face showing the amount you owe, all you need to do is to enter your number and be quickly on your way. Sometimes the tiny screen may show a zero to the left, but you do not worry because, after all, a zero to the left adds nothing to the total. But what you don't know is that it is a common new scam that has taken in a few friends... especially targeting foreigners. Unscrupulous scammers, among them taxi drivers and others will add a 9; 99; or 990 ahead of the number and add spaces at the end so the screen only shows the amount you expect to pay (at least once I noticed a discrepancy, thinking nothing of it). You enter your PIN, politely thank the attendant, and drive/walk away none the wiser. Without that little piece of paper, you would just throw away to look at, you have no idea you have just been taken. Such a nice attendant. Solution: Always yes "Sim" when asked "Você quer a sua via?" This act in itself reduces the likelihood of an altered amount. Of course, always look to compare once the transaction is done. This is a really great tour - you'll learn not only the layout of the city and the history of why it's been done that way, but also get to see all the big monuments and best architecture. I would really recommend this tour if you have family or friends visiting. You'll learn so much about the city, and your guests will feel like they actually know the city. I recommend this product. My recommendation is for the Guara location as I train there. I can tell from my own experience that I felt more than secure and welcomed! They have absolutely no problems showing the moves and training with you as much as necessary for you to understand everything. The vibrant ambiance took in the Friday lunchtime crowd under the giant open space of Mané Mercado Virgula, a striking architectural addition meshed into the grandeur of Brasilia’s Estádio Nacional Mané Garrincha and the striking high rises around the city’s Monumental Axis for a commanding view of the whole cityscape. You are in a bustling food hall with a generous number of food choices, a veritable gastronomic Circus Maximus or at least a version of Pontão under one roof. The place is cool and vaguely exciting with a modern energy that is as much Brasilia as a piece of the kind of food markets that took over the streets in New York’s Soho, Barcelona, and countless German and Italian cities. But Mané Virgula Market is much more than that. It is a carefully curated selection of restaurant offerings that range from Argentinian to Arab to Japanese, to churrascos, burgers, roasted birds, Brazilian specialties, pastries, beers, wines, and several culinary offerings that each specialize in various aspects sure to please foodies and dabblers alike. It is a paean to Brasilian cuisine; most of the food kiosks there are restaurants that already exist and have been successful in pleasing the public in Brasilia for years. Commanding a corner of the vast covered area and very busy is Lima, Cocina Peruana by Chef Marco Espinoza of Taypá, one of Brasilia’s best innovative, elegant restaurants. My son is still talking about it two years later. I recommend this product. In addition, they have a bar and restaurant at the back of the shop which is very popular with the people living in the neighborhood. The setting is very simple, plastic chairs and tables under a huge tree which gives is the feeling that you are in a beer garden. The menu is very extensive, and the food portions are huge and, most important, they taste pretty good. And the beers are ice cold. Pricewise, Distribuidora de Bebidas must be one of the cheapest bars in Brasilia, which is always good. The service can be a bit slow at times when the bar is crowded, especially on weekends. The locals are very welcoming and some of them speak English and are more than happy to have a conversation with you. All in all, a great place to spend time with friends and family. Unidas Livre is a car rental company that is specializing in long term vehicle rentals. They offer cars from manufacturers like VW, Jeep, BMW, Audi, Fiat, Hyundai to name a few, and they offer rental contracts for 12, 18, 24, 36 and 48 months. All vehicles are brand new when delivered and the monthly fee includes all maintenance, insurance, and yearly registration fees. Customers can choose from more than 70 models and the color of the vehicle. Delivery can take up to 60 days, but Unidas Livre will supply a rental car during the waiting period for the same monthly price that the long-term rental costs.
